Who I Work With

A Progressive, Inclusive Therapist

Therapy goes deeper when you are not bracing for judgment. If you have been searching for a liberal or progressive therapist, here is what that means in my practice.

Who I Work With

Why Shared Values Can Matter

It is hard to bring your whole self into a room when part of you is wondering whether your therapist quietly disagrees with who you are, who you love, or what you care about. Many people do not realize how much they have been holding back until they no longer have to.

In Georgia, it can be difficult to tell from a directory listing whether a therapist shares your outlook. So I will say it plainly: my values are progressive and inclusive, and you are welcome here as you are.

What That Looks Like in Our Work

I am LGBTQ+ affirming, and I hold race, culture, gender, class, and family history as real parts of a life, not background details. I do not treat your values as symptoms, and I will not ask you to defend them before we can talk about what hurts.

It also means the focus stays on you. Therapy is not a debate, and it is not a place for my opinions. You do not need to share my views or talk about politics at all. If you do, I will listen for what it means to you.

What You Might Bring

You might be worn down by the news and the feeling that things you care about are under pressure. You might be navigating a parent, a partner, or coworkers who see the world very differently, along with the tense holidays and quiet distance that can come with that. Or you might simply want a place where an identity, a relationship, or a choice does not have to be explained first.

My training is in humanistic psychology, which begins with deep respect for each person's experience and choices. Whatever brings you here, we work slowly and with curiosity, paying attention to the feelings and patterns underneath the headlines.
